Cocktails with Secret Ingredients – The Brechfa Blush
We love cocktails and especially Gin based ones here at Tŷ Mawr and have a collection of Gins including some from our local Distillery. Penderyn Distillery is located in the Brecon Beacons less than an hour from us with its own source of natural spring water. Penderyn is known for its famous whisky with amazing single malts which we have also plus a number of beautiful Gins and a new range of Siddiqui Rums. A great place to visit and also to maybe link in with a walk in the Beacons.
Brecon Rhubarb and Cranberry Gin
Penderyn have a growing Gin collection. One of our favourites is the Brecon Rhubarb and Cranberry Gin which is the core ingredient for the Brechfa Blush a cocktail we designed. A burst of tangy rhubarb blends with bittersweet cranberry to give a fresh and fruity gin. Aromas of juicy grapefruit and fresh strawberries swirl on the nose, while juniper mingles with coriander and sweet orris root in the mouth, leaving a dry lingering finish.
Fentimans Rose Lemonade
The other key component to the Brechfa Blush is Fentimans Rose Lemonade. This is made with pure Otto rose oil from the world famous Rose Valley in Kazanlak, Bulgaria. This rose oil is one of the most valuable essential oils on earth and used in many of the world’s finest perfumes. Fentimans blend a small amount of rose oil with lemon juice to add an unrivalled depth of flavour.
The Brechfa Blush
Tŷ Mawr blend both these components together with raspberries, ice and fresh local mint leaves to produce this most refreshing cocktail.
