Forest Walking around Brechfa

We class this as a moderate walk, it’s about 2 hours and has lots of uphill so if you don’t mind hills you will like it. There are lots of places to stop on the way and if you can give us notice we will do you some sandwiches and a drink. The views at the top are well worth the walk.

Starting and ending at Tŷ Mawr Country Hotel

The route starts from Tŷ Mawr, exit the hotel to the left and start to walk towards the shop. You will see a sign to your left saying New Inn follow this up the hill for around a mile and turn left into the forestry car park called Keepers.

Keeping the barn on your right walk down the track through the 2 gates. This will go downhill, bend left and climb upwards gradually. After about 2 miles you will come to a crossroads in the forestry tracks, turn left downhill. After about half a mile you will pass between two houses and then another quarter of a mile you will come to a T Junction.

**Turn left and then after half a mile turn right at a T Junction. This road leads you back into Brechfa village where at the bottom if you turn right you will find Tŷ Mawr on your right. ** If you prefer a longer walk, then turn right at this T Junction and after about a mile turn left at the next t junction this road will then go up and down a while and bring you back into Brechfa on the right hand side of the Forest Arms.
